The home of the Spruce Goose, Howard Hughes' incredible flying boat, and dozens of warplanes dating to World War I give the aviation buff plenty to learn and see. In addition to vintage aircraft, there's a gift shop full of aviation trinkets, group tours and educational programs and other events.

The largest collection of local artifacts is on display in a historic Poling Memorial church and Miller Log Cabin Musuem at the historic Lafayette site (605 Market Street, Lafayette), which is open on Wednesday and Saturday from 10-4 or by appointment.
Founded in 1957, the Yamhill County Historical Society is a not-for-profit educational and public service organization engaged to protect, preserve and share the history and heritage of Yamhill County. An exceptional group of quilts and other textiles dating from the 1850s through the twentieth century, and a beautiful assortment of Native American baskets and tools are among the more than 15,000 items found in the Permanent Collection.

OMSI features three giant exhibit halls filled with hands on activities for children and adults alike, a planetarium, Laser Light shows, the OMNIMAX Theatre with a skydome screen and full surround sound for an immersive theatre experience, the USS Blueback Submarine tours, several science labs, a Science Playground for small children, a Motion simulator, and a travelling exhibit hall. Coming in January is the exhibit for "Da Vinci–The Genius" Leonardo da Vinci's genius comes to life with interactive reproductions of his inventions and 3D plasma presentations of his paintings. Highlights include ground-breaking research on the Mona Lisa that has startled the art world.

The Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals is located in Hillsboro, Oregon, about 20 minutes west of downtown Portland. The Rice NW Museum is home to the "Alma Rose" Rhodochrosite from the Sweet Home Mine in Alma, Colorado. The museum also boasts the largest opal-filled thunderegg in the world, crystalized gold bigger than your hand, dinosaur eggs and fossils, en extensive metorite collection, a blacklight collection, and hundreds of other attractions. The Rice Museum has become nationally recognized. It is the finest rocks and minerals museum in the Pacific Northwest, and one of the best in the nation.

CPRD’s 19 parks in Newberg and Dundee include playgrounds, walking/jogging trails, picnic tables and covered shelters, a Frisbee golf course, horseshoe pits, tennis and basketball courts, soccer and softball fields.
Swimming

Skate Park/BMX Track
One of CPRD’s more famous parks is the Chehalem Skate Park and BMX track. Skaters from around the world come to test their skills at the 30,000 square-foot park designed by skaters themselves. The nationally-ranked BMX track hosts races almost every weekend during the summer months. For those of you who don’t skate or bike, bleachers are available. Spectators are welcome to sit back, have a snack and enjoy the fast-paced action.

Newberg Public Library serves the residents of Chehalem Valley from historic Carnegie Library that was enlarged a number of years ago.
At the handsome, two-story building located in the heart of downtown Newberg you will find 12 public internet work stations along with 75,000 books, periodicals, DVDs, and book and music CDs. On the library’s web page you can access more than 26 databases with business, student and general information. Through its partnership with other libraries in Polk, Yamhill and Marion counties more than two million items are available to area residents. Access is also available to most every library collection in the world.
Families are welcome at the comfortable children’s area, stocked with crafts and toys. Reading times for babies, toddlers and preschoolers are scheduled weekly to help develop young minds and language skills. Look at the front desk for flyers that announce special guests and events for children of all ages.
